FAQs for Garden Club Volunteer Responsibilities
Thank you for helping care for our town plantings, gardens, library arrangements, and club meetings! We appreciate your time and support. Pleasereview the information below before signing up.

Sign-Up Period
● Sign up for one full week.
● Water all listed areas throughout your assigned week.
● Water as often as needed, depending on the weather.
Duties
● Water all assigned areas.
● Deadhead flowers as needed.
● Collect and remove dead flowers, leaves, and other garden debris.
● Leave each area neat and presentable.
Areas in Town Center
● Two stone planters by the Police Station entrance, behind Town Hall
● Stone planter in front of Town Hall
● Historical Trough on the Common
● Herb & Pollinator Gardens at the Museum:
● In front of the museum entrance
● Around the gazebo
● Planter at the Museum beneath the sign
Forge Village
● Area in front of Spinners
● Triangle at the Pleasant Street/ Patten Road intersection
Graniteville
● Mill Pond Graniteville
Supplies
Please bring:
● Watering cans or gallon water jugs
● A small bag or box for garden debris
There is a museum hose is available along the side of the building between the
entrance and the gazebo.
Handoff
● Before your week ends, please remind the next volunteer that their week is
beginning.
● Confirm the dates and responsibilities by email, phone, or text.
● If you need a substitute, please arrange one and notify the schedule

Reminders
● The schedule will be posted on the Garden Club website and circulated by
email via the Westford Garden Club Newsletter.
● Check the weather regularly so the plantings receive the water they need.

Sign-Up Period
● Sign up for one two-week period.
● Each period includes two volunteers.
● Please coordinate with the other volunteer before your period begins. We’re
always better together!
Duties
● Maintain the Museum’s Herb & Pollinator Gardens.
● Weed and deadhead as needed.
● Remove weeds, dead flowers, leaves, and other garden debris.
● Check the gardens once or twice each week.
● Leave the gardens neat and presentable after each visit.
Areas – Town Center
● Herb & Pollinator Gardens at the Museum:
● In front of the museum entrance
● Around the gazebo
Graniteville
Mill Pond by the cement structure
Forge Village
● Area in front of Spinners
● Triangle at the Pleasant Street/ Patten Road intersection
Supplies
Please bring:
● Hand-weeding tools
● Gardening gloves, if desired
● A small bag or box for garden debris
Handoff
● Before your period ends, please remind both volunteers assigned to the next
period.
We need to make sure there is some redundancy so people know, for example,
that I watered on Saturday; you can probably wait until Tuesday.

Sign-Up Period
● Sign up for one two-week period.
● Provide an arrangement or plant at the beginning of your assigned period.
● Check it once or twice during the two weeks.
Duties
● Provide a flower arrangement or plant for the library. This can come from your garden.
● Add water as needed.
● Remove dead flowers, leaves, and other debris.
● Keep the display fresh, attractive, and appropriate for the library.
● Remove your flowers and vase at the end of the period unless another arrangement has been made.
Location
● JV Fletcher Library
Supplies
Please provide:
● Flower arrangement or plant
● Vase, if providing cut flowers
● Water and any other materials needed for maintenance
Handoff
● Contact the next volunteer before your period ends.
● Confirm whether the arrangement will be transferred, replaced, or removed.
● Pick up your flowers and vase unless you have arranged a handoff.

Sign-Up Period
● Sign up for a specific regular Garden Club meeting.
● Sign up only for a meeting you expect to attend.
● Traditionally, two hostesses serve at each meeting.
Duties
● Coordinate with the other hostess before the meeting.
● Provide the agreed-upon refreshments and flower arrangement.
● Help set up the hospitality table.
We ask members who signed up for hospitality to sit at the entrance,
check people into the meeting, and manage sign-in and sign-up for various
events like weeding and watering.
● Make sure the table is ready before the meeting begins.
● Remove personal items and clean the area after the meeting.
Supplies
Each hostess team provides:
● Tablecloth
● Napkins
● Plates
● Baked good(s)
● Flower arrangement
Tables are available at the Museum.
Handoff
● Contact the other hostess before the meeting.
● Divide responsibilities and confirm refreshments.
● If you cannot attend, please arrange a substitute and notify the other hostess
and schedule coordinator.
● Confirm any changes before the meeting.
Reminders
● Take home personal serving items after the meeting.
